South Australia is shining a spotlight on autism inclusion this April, with the Office for Autism leading activities across Autism Awareness Month.

From a new eLearning program to lighting up Adelaide and Gather Round, find out how autism awareness and inclusion are in prime focus for South Australians during April.
New eLearning program launched
On 1 April, the Office for Autism launched a free and accessible eLearning program designed by Autistic people for a broad audience including employers, educators, frontline staff and community members.
The modules focus on building understanding of autism, supporting respectful and inclusive interactions, and promoting environments where Autistic people can participate and thrive.
The eLearning program is available now on the Office for Autism website.
Lighting up Adelaide
World Autism Awareness Day, observed annually on 2 April, highlights and celebrates efforts to champion and build awareness for Autistic people and the autism community.
Landmark buildings across Adelaide were illuminated in a rainbow of colours to mark the day and show support, signalling the start of Autism Awareness Month.
Gather Round for awareness
The ‘lighting up’ theme continued during Gather Round, with highly visible activities across all three venues. These included:
- Boundary screen advertising
- Big-screen videos during quarter- and half-time breaks in play
- A pop-up stand inside the South Gate at Adelaide Oval
- The Government of SA’s sensory bus at Barossa Park.
