The redeveloped North Adelaide Public Golf Course is taking spectacular shape, with the first of the championship holes just a short chip away.

Bunkers for the new number 3 hole have been constructed, including the shaping of three challenging sand traps which are set to test both the public golfers and the professionals.

The new hole – which replaces a portion of the former 18th – will be one of the shorter fairways, with the steep and deep bunkers guarding the new green set to be a talking point.

While the weather has been clear, turf specialists have worked hard to protect the completed shaping and topsoiled areas, install the green drainage network and finalise drainage liners to bunker areas.

The 3rd hole is the most progressed of the new 18-hole course, which will build upon the rich golfing history of the site by delivering a publicly owned world-class championship course in the heart of the city.

The design caters to a range of playing abilities from beginners to pros, providing a number of tee block options.

Key elements of the redevelopment include an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course, driving range, and practice areas. Holes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are the current focus of turf, irrigation and structure works, including fairways, bunkers and tee blocks.

The completed course will significantly boost the growth of golf in the state among under-represented demographics including young people and women.
