An independent review of the emergency management response to the extreme weather event that took place in South Australia between 28 September and 5 October 2016 was led by former South Australia Police Commissioner Gary Burns.

The review investigated the adequacy of the state’s prevention, preparedness, response and recovery arrangements.

Following the review, significant work has been undertaken with stakeholders and the community to strengthen planning, coordination and leadership across the emergency management sector.

A final government response to the review is provided below.

The State Government will continue to work with our partners to ensure that we are well placed to prepare for, respond to and recover from extreme weather events.
