Open Data is data made freely available to everyone, to re-use as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control.

In 2013, the Premier announced a Declaration of Open Data, committing the government to proactively make more government data available for use by business and the community.

Today, the advancement of Open Data across the Public Sector is led by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s Office for Digital Government and is a key priority in the Government’s ICT Strategy.
