Named for South Australian disability advocate Richard Llewellyn, these annual grants support development and project outcomes for professional practicing Deaf and disabled artists.

Four categories were offered in the 2024-25 round, with applications assessed by a multi-art form panel of disabled artists and arts workers.

Funded highlights include:

  • A project grant of $6000 for emerging writer Emily O’Sullivan to develop a children’s chapter book manuscript that focuses on the innovation and connection between children living with and without disabilities.
  • A project grant of $9337 for Kangaroo Island-based mid-career visual artist Philip Baines to present sculpture work in the group exhibition Behind Closed Doors at Fleurieu Arthouse in McLaren Vale.
  • A professional development grant of $10 000 for Nobelene Mackenzie-Stuart to work with a mentor to develop songwriting and performance skills.
  • A project grant of $24 979 for No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability for HIGH, a major new production about Rachel High’s university experience. Rachel is believed to be the first person with Down syndrome in Australia to graduate with a university degree.
  • A project grant of $25 000 for Tutti Arts for an international residency opportunity for learning, disabled and neurodivergent artists. The pilot program will see a Tutti artist undertaking a residency in Seoul, Korea, followed by a Korean artist in turn undertaking a residency at Tutti Arts.

The funded activities are expected to support employment for 18 artists and 16 arts workers.
