The Department of the Premier and Cabinet helps to implement the government’s Competitive Neutrality Policy, by assisting agencies and the community in responding to and resolving complaints.

South Australia’s Competitive Neutrality Policy requires government entities to apply the principles of competitive neutrality to their business activities. This is to ensure significant government businesses compete fairly in the market.

These principles also apply to Local Government.

The Department of Treasury and Finance assists government agencies to identify their significant business activities and apply the principles to their business activities.

The approach to receiving complaints, undertaking investigations and providing recommendations to government is set out in the policy statement and supporting documents further below.

An independent Competition Commissioner may be assigned to investigate infringements of competitive neutrality principles once an initial investigation of an infringement is undertaken. A summary of the Commissioner’s decisions is published further below.

We encourage you to contact us to discuss your complaint.
