Congratulations to the South Australians who have been named in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours to recognise and acknowledge their outstanding contribution to our community and the nation.

62 South Australian’s have been honoured through a diverse range of contributions and service across all fields, including professional endeavours, community work, Australia’s defence force.

One has been appointed Companion of the Order (AC), one was appointed an Officer of the Order (AO), another six were appointed Members of the Order (AM), and a further forty-one received the Medal of the Order (OAM). Five South Australians were awarded Military Medals, and a further eight were awarded Meritorious Medals.

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet would like to congratulate all South Australian recipients for their outstanding achievements and service.

Recognition in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List is one of the highest acknowledgments of services to community and society that an individual in Australia can receive. It is an opportunity to recognise and congratulate the exceptional actions, achievements, service and contributions by extraordinary Australians from all walks of life, who go above and beyond expectations. It rewards people who have worked tirelessly in their respective fields and made a real difference in our community and for Australia.

This year’s Queen’s Birthday Honour list shows a record 15% increase in female recipients compared to the Australia Day 2018 Honours List. This is a positive trend; however, women are still underrepresented in the number of nominations to the Order of Australia. To help address this gender imbalance, you are strongly encouraged to nominate inspiring women who make an exceptional contribution to their community and Australian society in their respective field.
