Several changes to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s responsibilities come into effect on 1 July 2018, in line with the machinery of government changes announced earlier this year.

The business units and areas of responsibility joining the department are:

  • Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation (from the Department of State Development)
  • Arts South Australia (from the Department of State Development)
  • Veterans SA (from the Department of Treasury and Finance)
  • Multicultural Affairs (from the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion)
  • Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (as an attached office; from the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure).

The business units and areas of responsibility leaving the department are:

  • Service SA (to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure)
  • Shared Service SA, whole of government procurement functions, End User Computing, Electorate Services, and the Chief Economist (to the Department of Treasury and Finance)
  • Office for the Public Sector (to the Department of Treasury and Finance, as an attached office)
  • Minerals and energy-related teams, the Low Carbon Economy unit, and the Energy Plan Implementation Taskforce (to the new Department for Energy and Mining).
