The Department of the Premier and Cabinet celebrates an eclectic and culturally diverse workforce which we greatly value and see as a positive source of strength.

A range of robust employment strategies underpin our commitment to equity and diversity.

Commitment to Aboriginal Employment

We acknowledge and value the professional expertise, cultural knowledge and life experience that Aboriginal people bring to the workplace and are committed to increasing Aboriginal participation within the public sector.

Our key initiatives include:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Pool - to redress under representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the workforce
  • DPC Nunga Network – supports networking of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to enhance career development
  • targeted cadetship, trainee and graduate programs
  • career coaching
  • supporting job satisfaction
  • cultural awareness training for all employees to foster a culturally inclusive work environment.

Commitment to supporting employees with disabilities

The department has strategies in place to support job seekers, current employees and those using our services living with a disability.  We are committed to providing positive, accessible and inclusive work practices and are willing to make reasonable adjustments for new and existing employees with disabilities.

Commitment to achieving gender equity

We recognise the performance of our department is greatly enhanced where there is a gender balance at the decision making level.  We recognise the unconscious barriers and work-life responsibilities that may impede women from fully contributing to our department.  To that end, we strive to support the development of our female employees into our senior and executive roles.

LGBTIQ Strategy

The department proudly supports the government’s vision for South Australia as a state where the presence and contributions of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) people are welcomed and celebrated, and where their ability to participate fully in all aspects of social and economic life - free from discrimination and prejudice - is maximised.

Read the South Australian Strategy for the inclusion of LGBTIQ people.

We are a White Ribbon Accredited workplace. We recognise and take active steps to prevent and respond to violence against women by adapting organisational culture, practices and procedures to promote safe workplaces for women and respectful relationships.
