Our Protocol Unit provides expert advice and support in matters of government protocol and official procedure and are responsible for the coordination of official functions and ceremonial state events.

The team work in partnership with the Office of International Engagement to optimise the delivery of incoming and outgoing international missions and develop programs for VIP and official visitors to South Australia.

Our staff provide advice to private organisations and members of the public on the use of South Australian flags, insignia and emblems, and manage aspects of the Australian Honours award system.

They also co-ordinate the Premier’s congratulatory messages for citizens, in recognition of significant birthdays and anniversaries.

A number of resources have been developed by the team to assist the public sector and the community in using the correct protocol during activities such as state occasions, visits, ceremonies and functions.
